Born Emet, a village in Kütahya, in 1935 Gülten Dayıoğlu completed her primary school education in the various cities of Anatolia region and furthered her education at Atatürk Girls' High School in Istanbul. After studying at the Law School of Istanbul University for a while, she decided to become a teacher and completed the courses to receive her primary school teacher's certificate. After teaching for fifteen years, Gülten Dayıoğlu retired in 1977, so take up a career in something she loved even more than teaching: Writing children's novels…

Dayıoğlu's love for books and literature go back a long time. She used to enjoy writing even as a little girl at third grade…Her first novel " The Gardner's Son" was published in 1963. Dayıoğlu has been honored with a number of awards given by various institutions, including the Yunus Nadi Short Story Awards given by the renowned daily newspaper Cumhuriyet. Some of her works have been translated into English, German, Hungarian, Swedish and Russian.


In 1984, Dayıoğlu's book " If Only The World Belonged To Children" was elected by the Germany Publishers Guild to be published under a series called '300 Children's Books Which Elevate Hope For the Future', including the works of world famous authors such as Jules Verne, Rudyard Kipping and Daniel Defoe. The books included in this special series were publicized in Germany by a special exhibition.


Gülten Dayıoğlu has produced two series of illustrated children's books in Turkey called "The Poppy", comprised of twelve books and " Ece and Yüce" comprised of twenty books. In addition, the author has adapted into Turkish the first sixteen books of a series of illustrated children's books from French, called "Ayşegül".


In the recent years, Dayıoğlu has begun to produce literature predominantly for teenagers, including novels like "The Green Cherry", " The Eighth Color" and " Mo's Secret". The two collections of her short stories " Those Left Behind" and "Back Home" are still very much favored by readers of all ages.


Gülten Dayıoğlu's first novel "Fadiş", published in 1971, has been a favorite among the teenagers generation after generation. Some of her other most favored books include "Brothers and Sisters", " Homesick", "Suna's Sparrows", " When I Grow Up", " If Only The World Belonged To Children", "Children of The Radiation Era", "Mystery of Mount Parbat", " Eyes of The Mythos Eagle", " The Immortal Queen", " Smart Fleas", " A Bird Flew Over the Danube", " Purple Clouds In the Sky" and " Ganga".
Along with her numerous novels, short stories, travel books, radio and television play scripts, Gülten Dayıoğlu has also produced reports on the problems of the education system in general and educational difficulties faced by the workers' children abroad, which have been published in Cumhuriyet and Milliyet, two of the leading newspapers in Turkey.Gülten Dayıoğlu continues her hard work with enthusiasm at producing literature for the young.
